The Complete STAR SHIP: A Simulation Project

dP Series in Games Number 1

Reviewed in Practical Computing, October 1979 which concluded by saying "If you have an IBM 370 and two light years to spare you might choose this - pointed ears would help. Otherwise, it's only an intellectual exercise."

This is a game book and much, much more. If your primary interest is playing the game, you can skip the first two chapters of the book. Chapters three and four will help you get the program up and running on your machine. But you should read the first two chapters also. Simulation is probably one of the most fascinating areas of computer science, and it can be done on a small computer. The author describes the methods used in designing and implementing a software simulation. By doing this simulation you will become familiar with the techniques by which any large programming task may be implemented.
